Federation BPW Malaysia are privileged to celebrate the International Women’s Day by visiting one of our members’ Urban Backyard farming and learn the basics of kitchen gardening through recycling. (SDG No. 1 No Poverty and No. 2, No Hunger)

Note from President Rozaini Nawawi:

"Greetings from Malaysia.

We are happy and proud that we in Malaysia are able to celebrate..8 March INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY, "Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow."

We as women of Malaysia have a reason to celebrate this year because the long standing application for citizenship of children born of Malaysian mothers but foreign fathers have been resolved and are now granted automatic Malaysian Citizenship. We have achieved in this aspect the SDG No. 5, Gender Equality. On SDG No 3, Good Health and Well Being, most women advocates on Tobacco Control and some other NGOs are earnestly waiting and hoping that the Generational End Game, will be passed in the parliament. All citizens and non citizens born in 2005 and above will be banned from the possession of tobacco and tobacco products including e-cigarettes. The ultimate goal is to make Malaysia a Tobacco/Nicotine Free Generation.

On the other hand, in the international front, we are saddened by the ongoing conflict of Russia and Ukraine, where refugees mostly women and children are displaced, adding to the long and ongoing numbers of refugees from Syria, Palestine, Yemen and Afghanistan to name a few. As refugees, most of the children and young girls will not have access to proper education. Girls’ education not only empowers families but communities and economy. It is our social responsibility to ensure that our younger generation gets to rock the cradle in line with the UN SDGs.

For us, Federation of BPW Malaysia, this year, in line with SDG No. 1 No Poverty and No. 2, No Hunger, we are privileged to celebrate the International Women’s Day by visiting one of our members’ Urban Backyard farming and learn the basics of kitchen gardening through recycling.

It is with gratitude, great pride and honour that Malaysia has been recognised in year 2021 as a Federation BPW Malaysia by the BPW International. We wish to congratulate all the women advocates of the world and wish everyone a “HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY""
